The fruit fly, also known as the vinegar fly or vinegar fly, is a small but persistent hygiene pest. It appears in homes, restaurants, supermarkets, and anywhere fermenting food or organic waste is left out in the open. Its extremely rapid reproduction and ability to detect fermenting substances over long distances make it particularly troublesome. Although it does not transmit pathogens like other fly species, it poses a hygiene problem and is undesirable in food processing.
