The common wasp is a widespread wasp species in Central Europe, closely resembling the German wasp. It is easily recognizable by its yellow and black body, with the first abdominal segment being black, and by the characteristic black anchor-shaped marking on its face. Some specimens exhibit minor anomalies in the facial area, making the anchor less clearly visible. It builds its nests in crevices in the ground, cavities, or buildings and often seeks proximity to humans.
Their lifestyle, which is heavily reliant on human food sources and suitable nesting sites, often leads to conflicts.
