The giant house spider is very common in our latitudes. It is frequently found in older buildings and, with its size, makes an imposing impression. The spider can reach a leg length of 100 mm. The giant house spider is harmless and shy towards humans. Its eyesight is very poor, but its sense of touch is excellent. The slightest vibrations or air currents provide the giant house spider with the necessary information to survive. The giant house spider builds a funnel-shaped web. It cannot climb on smooth surfaces, which is why it often gets stuck in bathrooms or sinks.
