The European paper wasp is a slender wasp species found in warm, open areas. It has a spindle-shaped abdomen, and from the third flagellum segment onward, its antennae are entirely yellow-orange. Its nests are small and consist of individual combs without an outer covering.
This species poses no danger to humans. Although it possesses a stinger, it rarely stings. The stinger is very short and soft, and in some cases cannot even penetrate the skin.
