The Nosferatu spider gets its name from the markings on its body, which resemble the vampire's head from the film of the same name. The Nosferatu spider has gained media prominence in Central Europe over the last 20 years. This is due to two reasons: firstly, its size is unusual for European standards, and secondly, it is one of the few native spiders whose fangs can penetrate human skin.
