The silverfish is a new species in Switzerland, and an increase in cases is becoming increasingly noticeable. Silverfish prefer warm, humid environments and have a preference for carbohydrates (cellulose). They can be identified by their greyish-brown appearance, but closely resemble the silverfish. To distinguish them more easily, the appendages at the end of their bodies must be observed. The appendages of silverfish are longer than those of silverfish, and in silverfish, they are set at a 90° angle. These insects are nocturnal and avoid light. Silverfish require a temperature between 20-24°C and a relative humidity of more than 50%.
