The pigeon tick (Argas reflexus) is a parasitic soft tick that primarily uses pigeons as hosts, but can also bite humans. It is commonly found in attics, dovecotes, and buildings with pigeon nests. Unlike hard ticks, it is nocturnal and feeds only briefly before hiding again. Its bite can cause severe skin reactions, itching, and allergic symptoms. In abandoned pigeon nests, pigeon ticks can multiply rapidly and spread into living spaces, leading to infestations.
