Characteristics
Mice and rats are among the most common pests in both urban and rural areas. They prefer to live near humans, seeking shelter in buildings and finding ideal conditions there: food, warmth, and places to retreat. Often, their presence goes unnoticed until the first signs of damage or other problems become visible. Early detection is crucial, as rodents reproduce rapidly and can not only contaminate food supplies but also cause significant damage to materials and compromise hygiene.
Signs of an infestation
Compared to other pests, rodents usually leave clearly recognizable signs. As soon as the following abnormalities are noticed, action should be taken quickly:
Clear signs of gnawing on wood, cables, plastic or packaging
Food packaging that has been eaten away and shows visible bite marks.
Unpleasant, pungent odor – especially in enclosed spaces
Sounds like scratching or scraping behind walls, under floors or in ceilings
Smear or grinding marks along walls and walkways
Nesting material such as paper, fabric scraps or insulation materials in corners or cavities
Traces of feces in the form of small, dark droppings – especially along walls or storage facilities
